Can you love someone who cannot love themselves?

My experience is that when I have tried to love someone who didn't love themselves ( lots of destructive behavior, inauthenticity, dishonesty)
that they actively rejected the love.
It was also the other way around. When I was so depressed, angry, insecure , I actively rejected the efforts of people to love me. I felt like I knew I was loved but couldn't feel it, couldn't process that I was cherished. I felt worthless.
It wasn't until recently that I have enough self-love, self-esteem to feel worthy of real love.

I have some Words Of Wisdom here People. People that call themselves bad names and make degrading statements about themselves like Ana for example show basically NO Self Respect for themselves wether they realize it or not! Even if they are just joking or kidding around. Oh by the way, I am saying this out of LOVE! And thats what makes this "thread" relavent to this Tribe.

Love is a skill, no magic involved

The Power of Love
Love is the best antidepressant—but many of our ideas about it are wrong. The less love you have, the more depressed you are likely to feel.

Love is as critical for your mind and body as oxygen. It's not negotiable. The more connected you are, the healthier you will be both physically and emotionally. The less connected you are, the more you are at risk.

It is also true that the less love you have, the more depression you are likely to experience in your life. Love is probably the best antidepressant there is because one of the most common sources of depression is feeling unloved. Most depressed people don't love themselves and they do not feel loved by others. They also are very self-focused, making them less attractive to others and depriving them of opportunities to learn the skills of love.

There is a mythology in our culture that love just happens. As a result, the depressed often sit around passively waiting for someone to love them. But love doesn't work that way. To get love and keep love you have to go out and be active and learn a variety of specific skills.

Most of us get our ideas of love from popular culture. We come to believe that love is something that sweeps us off our feet. But the pop-culture ideal of love consists of unrealistic images created for entertainment, which is one reason so many of us are set up to be depressed. It's part of our national vulnerability, like eating junk food, constantly stimulated by images of instant gratification. We think it is love when it's simply distraction and infatuation.

One consequence is that when we hit real love we become upset and disappointed because there are many things that do not fit the cultural ideal. Some of us get demanding and controlling, wanting someone else to do what we think our ideal of romance should be, without realizing our ideal is misplaced.

It is not only possible but necessary to change one's approach to love to ward off depression. Follow these action strategies to get more of what you want out of life—to love and be loved.

* Recognize the difference between limerance and love. Limerance is the psychological state of deep infatuation. It feels good but rarely lasts. Limerance is that first stage of mad attraction whereby all the hormones are flowing and things feel so right. Limerance lasts, on average, six months. It can progress to love. Love mostly starts out as limerance, but limerance doesn't always evolve into love.
* Know that love is a learned skill, not something that comes from hormones or emotion particularly. Erich Fromm called it "an act of will." If you don't learn the skills of love you virtually guarantee that you will be depressed, not only because you will not be connected enough but because you will have many failure experiences.
* Learn good communication skills. They are a means by which you develop trust and intensify connection. The more you can communicate the less depressed you will be because you will feel known and understood.

There are always core differences between two people, no matter how good or close you are, and if the relationship is going right those differences surface. The issue then is to identify the differences and negotiate them so that they don't distance you or kill the relationship.

You do that by understanding where the other person is coming from, who that person is, and by being able to represent yourself. When the differences are known you must be able to negotiate and compromise on them until you find a common ground that works for both.

Life or Death

If a human being does not have Love (some form of Love, not romance-specific).. are they really "living"? If one is actually living without Love is it a form of dying? Is it possible to live a life absolutely free of Love? Essentially, what is a life without some form of Love?

****

I have an ultra-high capacity for LoVe. .. if I claimed just one religion, it would have to be called "LOVE". Not just the simple and fluffy romantic nature of Love. The broad spectrum of Love... joys and cruelties, strengths and frailties. If I chose any drug to pump into my body, it would have to be "Love"... the highs and the withdrawals. If I were to claim a single purpose in any lifetime, it would be Love.. with every breath, every step, every moment lived only in the name and for the sake of it. If I were to be obsessed, my obsession would be enveloped in Love... I would roll in it and insist that it take over every inch of my body and soul.

Being that I choose no main religion, pump no drug, claim no single purpose, do not obsess madly ... I will simply seek to enjoy sharing the LOVE I find in life, in any yummy and wonderous form it appears.

Wholeness theory, What do you think?

So I was thinking, Why am I so desperate to have a good working relationship with everyone I love, and to have everyone I love be whole within themselves?
I remember someone saying that each person I love is a piece of me, a reflection of who I am.
Put those two together , and I want to be whole. I want all the pieces to come together in the puzzle.
I want all my connections to be strong and real. I want to see wholeness in each person I love, each person who reflects some part of me back to me.
I want the whole puzzle to come together. The puzzle being wholeness itself, but the wholeness me is a puzzle to ( within the larger puzzle)
My grandma is sick and dying. She is also a hurt, broken women. I am going to be losing this piece of me soon. It pains me that this women, a 4th of my DNA will never have the chance to become whole. She never will heal from her wounds in this life at least. She is a part of me. And each piece needs to be whole.
What do you think?

Don’t burn time and money

If you apply my information:
You will waste less time
You will spend less money
You will avoid getting hustled
You will dodge the female player
You will get what you want

Player’s Rule
ABQ so you don’t burn time and money
Always be qualifying. Before I spend precious time and money with someone, I test the
waters with simple, qualifying questions so I don’t buy $50 in cocktails and four hours
later her boyfriend arrives in a Porsche and whisks her away into the evening.

Here are the basic qualifiers.
Who Are You Here With?
Sounds like you want to meet her friends, but you really want to determine if she’s
tethered to a group of nuns or strippers. If you meet her friends and they seem receptive
to “the more the merrier” adage, you’re in good shape. If her friend(s) seem possessive
and try to pull her away, welcome to the uphill battle.

Before you invest time and money in a gal who’s going to leave the second her friends
snap their fingers, you’re better off getting a phone number and taking the high road.

Where Do You Live?
If you’re having the time of your life with a woman who will eventually leave the bar and
drive eighty miles past road hazards and alcohol checkpoints, she’s going to have her
guard up. I don’t blame her. If she announces she’s dreading the drive home, and you’re
feeling the magic, remind her that your home is hers if she’d rather not take the
dangerous drive. I have offered many times to sleep on my couch and give her my bed if
she decides to stay. If you can get her that far, it can lead to music and Twister.
It’s great if she lives around the corner, better if she lives out of state. Why? She doesn’t
expect you to be her boyfriend, and she’s on vacation, baby. Something happens to
people when they’re on the road. When she tells you she’s in town visiting a cousin or at
a business conference, you can be sure the hormones are in a mild rage. Wherever she’s
from, ask her if she likes it; whatever her answer, you agree:

These are just a few of the tips you will learn with "The complete Sexual Tutorial package".

**************************************************

Greetings to all my relations.

This is the last step of our project History Watch. If History is
defined and known by the texts, we can now add to this definition the
recorded events of the filmed archives. Animated images are harder to
deny than printed words. Our objective is to spread out freely some of
the little broadcast, even hidden informations about our collective
History.

We put online a collection of 391 documentaries and other selected and
recut videos, to offer to a wide public the best of the infos
available on the net in english and in french. If you are interested,
you have the time, the right equipment and connection, all you have to
do is open the joint document and decompress it if needed (but normaly
your system should do it automaticaly). You'll find therein nine links
that will open the torrents for the nine DVDs we compiled (around 4.6
Gig each, for a total of a little over 41 G, being over 100 hours of
videos).

Otherwise, you can go directly to btjunkie.com and search for these titles.

Torrents are a system of peer to peer data transfer. The more people
download a torrent, the faster it spreads and the longer it stays on
the net. If you don't have a bittorrent software, we suggest that you
download uTorrent on utorrent.com. If you want to participate in
facilitating the diffusion of these infos about our collective
History, download these torrents on as many computers as possible,
whether it is in cybercafes. It takes one or two minutes to open up
the links and the downloading will keep proceeding on its own.

Please spread this out, take part in this action for social education
on a planetary scale. Thanks.

due to certain events in my marriage this last year i am starting to doubt that there are men out there who truly love and cherish their wives. I would love to hear the men out there who have found their soul mates give a shout out. I used to think that my husband loved me as much as any man could love a woman, it was pretty shattering to discover that I was mistaken. We are working on it, but I do not yet feel truly loved. Bring back my hope, ladies and gentlemen, that true love can exist, and more importantly, that it can heal.

Finally!!
I think I've found a pretty sweet alternative to adult friend finder
It's called TABOOspot
The structure is similar to that of MySpace and most importantly it's free!
I'm sure once this catches on, there is nothing stopping it from being as played out as MySpace but who cares, enjoy it while it lasts!
Anyways, I just thought I would put this out there for those of you looking for another way to meet people and to avoid all the others out there trying to dump their lame opinions on you

The way to Christ is simple

God's Blessings often benefit all people. But many of His promises are only for His own children. If you're not sure that you're a part of God's family, He offers you this invitation. The way to Christ is simple:

1. Admit that you have a need.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23

2. Believe that Jesus is God, the Son, who paid the wages of your sin.

For the wages of sin is death [eternal separation from God]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

3. Call upon God.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

King James Version

The Holy Bible

Is there anyone else out there who finds him/herself constantly focusing on his/her failures? Shortcomings? Does anyone want to band together to remind ourselves of all the good we do, every day?

What I'd like is to meet for a short, easy-going circle once a week to share our journals of loving acts. We'll all just write down every incident we notice of ourselves being generous and likeable, and share them with each other.

Is anyone doing something like this? Does anyone want to start?

Love,

My Men Will Do What You Tell Them!

Good boys!

Male Sex Slaves For Women
http://tribes.tribe.net/sexslaves

The rules they've agreed to:

All males in this group must follow the sexual commands of the women in the group that are within a 50-mile driving distance. If she says, “come over to my place and take off your clothes”, you do so even if she wants you to get naked in front of a room full of people. If she says, “give me a massage and then lick my pussy”, you do so. If she rolls over and says, “now, lick my butt”, you do so. If she says, “pleasure my friend,” you pleasure her friend.

Within this group only the females are allowed to make any kind of sexual requests or offers. Male slaves must have a picture of yourself in your profile and it also must contain your location. These rules do not apply to the women in the group.

There is also a private "Male Sex Slaves for Women" tribe set up for women, and the males at this site are also their sex slaves.

This Tribe is strictly set up for free exchanges. Fem-doms offering services that are tied to “financial domination” will have their advertisements deleted. Likewise any other advertisements for pay such as for pay porn-sites, professional dating services, professional strippers (male or female), etc. will be deleted.

Nothing involving pain, poop, minors, or that is unsafe is required of our male sex slaves, but all safe and sane sexual commands from our women are mandatory for men to stay in the tribe. Have fun!

I Met A Girl With Long Red Hair

I met a girl
with long red hair.
The one from my dreams
who haunted me there.

Though trothed to another
and loves him true.
In a part of her heart
she loves me too.

I dream of her
when I am alone.
And feel her presence
here in my home.

She is a fantasy
that cannot be real.
My honor is strong,
before it I kneel.

No other resides
in my heart’s special place.
No picture so sweet
than my angels face.

Be I damned or blessed,
which one is my fate?
I choose the latter
with smiles, contemplate…

I met a girl
with long red hair.
The one from my dreams
and still resides there.

You could look for love in another, but the love you feel for that special person comes from within. Manifest love for the universe and this beautiful experience of conciousness we have. Shed your insecurities, they come from the negative aspects of the self we feel uncomfortable about, focus on the positives you experience each day. Look up at the beautiful sky and feel all the love of creation in your heart. Love yourself, love others, and love this beautiful universe. You shall have all the love you need! Blessings to all!

If you love someone do you leave them alone?

If you truely love someone and they say " leave me alone" and stomp their feet like a teenager, do you leave them alone?
What if they are an adult? What if you worry that they have a tendency to push people away just when they need people the most. What if they have a tendency to lie? What if they would never say, " come close I need help"? Do I respect someone's boundaries by going away when they say leave me alone or do I occasioanally check in with them via e-mail? ( I don't believe this person is going to harm himself physically by the way)

I was so wrong about love

I fell in " Love" and it was bliss . And then it wore off. And then he left. Which is ok. But I have now decided as much as I love that bliss "love" that's not what I'm looking for. I am looking for the verbs of love. The man that still takes out the garbage and checks in on the kids right after we had a fight. The man who calls me up to see how I am doing after my big interview, before I call him. The guy who knows that when I'm angry and pushing him away I really want him to come closer and listen. The guy who takes the cats to the vet wthout being reminded. The guy who doesn't forget to check in with me emotionally at least once a day. The guy for the long haul.
Where do I find that?

Thanks for your opinions.

With every Word we Utter

Mr. T, recently wrote asking:

“…I would like to know how an American
went about becoming a Buddhist Monk.”

Dear Mr. T,

With every word we utter,
with every question we ask,
in one of two destinations,
our awareness is guided.

When guided into Story,
whether past-remembered, present-analyzed or future-fantasized,
our awareness gets bogged
in Sam-sa-ra’s sorrow, pain, fear, aggression, pride, control and folly.

But, when awareness is allowed to unfurl,
in the limitless expanse of the present moment,
the love, devotion, peace, insight, happiness and bliss of our Buddha-nature
is deeply drunk, no less explored.

No, Mr. T;
no matter how politely you ask me,
I will NOT go into story
for it is but a quagmire of a trap,

deceitfully distracting us
from the cutting edge of the present moment.

No matter how politely or earnestly
a child pleads with me
to give him liquid plumber to drink,
I shall NOT give it to him.

Likewise, now matter how you may try
to persuade, coax or manipulate me,
I will NOT give you
the poison of story.

Mr. T, the allure of my past,
pales in contrast
with the importance
of your now!

Tread you Theravada, Mahayana or Mantrayana:
the highway of now
is the one path trod
by every great Buddhist saint.

There are two ways to approach this path, my friend:
by Contriving a concentration upon now,
or by Spontaneously relaxing into the present moment.

To the uninitiated, the difference in technique
could seem to be the width of a hair,
but the results could be as separate
as Heaven and Earth.
Women, What Really Gets Your Goat about Men in Relationships

I am finishing a book on truthful, uplifting relationships and I am doing some final research on what women really think are the worst problems you face from Men in relationships.

try to be objective about the problem,, give scenario not a judgement..

like " Why do men say they will call back and then not do it"

not " why can't men be more emotionally attuned" we all know that..

I guess you could say that also,, but i want to hear about specific scenarios you have had,,

What are the recurring themes you are stuck in?

Women, what problem would you love to see addressed in a book about Love relationships?

What is committment?

It can't just be bieng in a long term relationship. My grandparents were together for 40 years and they couldn't leave each other, neither could have been able to survive without each other, I don't think that's committment.
Has anyone read Conscious loving by Gay And Kathrine Hendricks? I think committment may nee dot be something I find in myself first. Comittment to my own health, spiritual path. Committment to going where aq relationship takes me and letting go of some of my expectations. Committment to dealing with my own childhood wounds .
How did you know when you were really comitted? How do you keep that committment going? What qualities do you find help you be commttted?

Everyone Dies
Thursday, the 22nd of March, 2007

Everyone dies.
Jesus died.
Buddha died.
What does that say about everyday folks like me and you?

The question is NOT if we are going to die.
The question is How are we going to die.

Shall we die consumed with selfishness
and it’s fear, regret and aggression?
Or do we choose to die in peace
and it’s insight, love and joy?

That is a good way to die.
Couldn’t that also be a great way to live?

Meal Blessing

A Meal Blessing
Saturday, the 3rd of March, 2007

Mr. S, recently wrote:

“Everyday so many beings are dying or died.
Everyday so many are left behind.
A tornado stuck in Alabama.
People are dying in wars, of illnesses, starvation, and the like.

If you could take some time each day
and say a prayer or dedicate the merit of your practice
to those who dies and those who are left behind,
it would be a good thing to do.”

Dear Mr. S,

I was taught
that every meal or drink of water
is a great opportunity to both
generate and share good karma.

I do so
with the following prayers:

#1
Thank you La-ma Chen-re-zig
for your presence in my life.
Thank you for pacifying my karmic negativities
increasing my virtuous merit

guiding me directly and indirectly
and lavishing me with the blessings
of your body, speech and mind;
Om Ma-ni Pad-me Hum!

#2
I partake of this delicious food {water}
as an offering
to La-ma Chen-re-zig
who emanates

in his pea-sized aspect
of bliss-inducing light
upon this Throat-center;
Om Ma-ni Pad-me Hum!

#3
May ALL who have perished
over the last Forty-nine days
especially all who have perished
in the provision of this meal

or at my hand
now take immediate and auspicious Po-ta-la rebirth
without any other rebirths intervening.
And once there quickly accomplish full enlightenment

so they can better aid and liberate all others;
Om Ma-ni Pad-me Hum!

#4
By this virtue may I quickly attain
the enlightened state of La-ma Chen-re-zig
and then lead every living being
without exception to that state.

#5
May everyone be healthy, wealthy and happy,
may everyone practice skillfully and joyfully,
may everyone accomplish Chen-re-zig in THIS life
and then help many others do likewise;

for truly that is the meaning of life;
Om Ma-ni Pad-me Hum!

Mr. S,
Most of us eat three meals every day,
and drink a little water every hour,
so this three minuet practice could very well be performed 12-16 times every day.
I certainly hope this helps you to be of greater service to others.

Om Mani Padme Hum,
Lama Jigme Gyatso: Rime Manipa Tantrika

P.S.

Whether you invoke: Kwan Yin, Kuan Yin, Quan Yin,
Avalokiteshvara, Chenrezig or the Great Compassionate One

My dilemma!!! She's only 21. What to do...

I met her accidentally. Gradually, we started to discover how much we have in common. Then, I found out her age. She's never asked me about mine. I happen to look much younger than I am, and have always been involved in youth culture, music, etc... In other words, when we are out, we look just like any other pair hanging out or partying together. However groovy, I'm still 47, vs 21. Yes we enjoy all the same things and she's quite an intellect; we have the best conversations I recall ever having with any woman, and we have been hanging out a lot. But, after I found out about the big age gap between us, I thought it would be best to just "keep it friendly" and I've tried to stick to it. Problem is, I KNOW I'm falling for her, and I know that if we keep going, it's only a matter of time before we are confronted with whether to take it to the next level or not. My instinct tells me we're headed in the direction of taking it to the next level. But I'm really befuddled about owning up to falling for a girl more than half my age. Has anybody been down this road? or any feedback or words of wisdom in general?

Intimacy fears and the ego

Very interesting article on Intimacy and why we fear it as much as we crave it.
How has intimact worked in your life? Have you found that intimacy made you confront or release some of your ego?
Why is intimacy so scary to some? Do you think you have to love yourself fully before you let anyone love you?

"INTIMACY"
Exploring those Rare Moments
When You're Actually On the Same Page
With Another Person

"We are separated from one another
by an unbridgeable gulf of otherness and strangeness
which resists all our attempts to overcome it
by means of natural association or emotional or spiritual union.
There is no way from one person to another.
However loving and sympathetic we try to be,
however sound our psychology,
however frank and open our behavior,
we cannot penetrate the incognito of the other man,
for there are no direct relationships, not even between soul and soul..."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Article assembled by LiveReal Agent Shakti

Talk about it:
info@LiveReal.com

What is "Intimacy"?

For starters, it's more easy to say what intimacy is not.

It's not loneliness. It's not the casual shoulder-patting and
bum-slapping of chums. It's not being physically close to other
physical bodies. (The most alienated, non-intimate moments of life can
happen when you are physically close to other folks - even folks have
known for years.)

So it's . . . something deeper, more invisible, more intangible, more subtle.

It's an experience of . . . something that's more powerful than casual
companionship. It can involve "getting to know another person," but
it's more mysterious than, say, simply learning their life histories
and secrets. It's more than simply being vulnerable in front of
another person. It's not limited to people who you really know well,
because sometimes intimacy is more common with strangers than it is
with someone you've known for a long time.

Yet . . . there's something about the experience of what we call
"intimacy" - whatever it is - that is precious and powerful enough
enough to affect people so deeply that its effects can linger for
years. Those effects can be more powerful than the hardest drugs.

- and can be just as addictive . . .

Why Do We Hunger For It?

Why aren't we satisfied with nice, normal, ordinary relationships? Why
do we hunger for intense experiences of intimacy?

There are plenty of evolutionary, sociobiological, psychological, and
biological theories about it all, but for now, we'll just say this:

we feel, deep down, like we're somehow incomplete, lacking, unfinished
. . . and so we embark on a search for "IT" - the Answer, the
Fulfillment of that hunger, spiritual enlightenment, completion.

And often, that search
takes the form
of a search
for intimacy.

After all, we've probably experienced moments of intimacy that seemed
like "This is IT" - I've found IT!"

- and then it fades, and later, we want that experience again.

But if intimacy is "IT" . . . then why is it so rare? Why does it
fade? Why do people even avoid it?

We are going to look at two situations:
first, the person who avoids experiencing intimacy;
secondly, the person who wants to experience it, but isn't.

- and what we discover is that "intimacy" is strongly connected to
some bigger issues . . .

Why Does It Vanish?

Often we'll experience profound, intense, even life-altering moments
with a person . . . and then, in time, they fade and vanish.

Why?

Folks come up with a lot of different answers to this question - we
imagine that we're with the "wrong person," there isn't enough money,
religious differences, in-laws, the breakdown of church and family,
sexual incompatibility,
. . . and so on.

This can sometimes be important factors . . . but more often, we
believe that the above issues are relatively minor compared to the
real reason it vanishes...

The Dilemma

Why do we lack intimacy?

Why do we even deliberately avoid it, and push it away?

Many folks who long for intimacy assume that intimacy is completely
good, powerfully fulfilling, and totally desirable ...

- but in fact, there is another side to it: intimacy, when it's real,
is also seriously terrifying.

So we not only desire it, but we fear it as well.

This creates the dilemma: on the one hand, we desire it. On the other
hand, we fear it. So we're driving with one foot on the gas and one
foot on the brake.

". . . people are faced with a basic dilemma:
They must choose between investing in relationships
and remaining vulnerable to possible loss and rejection,
or attempting to protect themselves by retreating to an inward,
defensive posture.
This dilemma is analogous
to the one
facing all human beings:
the choice between fully investing in life despite its temporal nature,
or accommodating to death, and defending against death anxiety
by limiting one's gratifications
and deny one's enthusiasm for life."
- Robert Firestone and Joyce Catlett

This "dilemma of intimacy" is a variation on a theme, that theme being
a more central dilemma of human nature - and, not surprisingly, one
that is suspiciously similar to a possibly identical dilemma that
comes up on the search for "spiritual enlightenment" . . .

This role of "dilemma" plays out as well in another way as well, which
we will explore below, we we investigate "who" in intimacy gets
"obsessed" with "who."

Yet is it still puzzling - if intimacy is such a good thing, then why
do so many people avoid it?

Why Avoid Intimacy?

Here is the way we see it:

Real intimacy, when it occurs, is not merely being psychologically or
emotionally close to another person.

We believe that It is actually a small, miniature, bite-sized version
of "IT", of mysticism, of "love" or enlightenment or even "God" .

And that - when it's the real thing - terrifies the living tar out of us.

. . . because it essentially means tasting, however momentarily . . . death.

- but not actual, physical death. Intimacy is a threat not merely to
our bodies, but to who we think we are. In other words, intimacy is a
threat to our ego.

". . . men and women are faced with a truly fundamental dilemma:
above all else, each person wants true transcendence . . .
but, above all else, each person fears the loss of the separate self,
the "death" of the isolated ego or subject.
All a person wants is Wholeness,
but all he does is fear and resist it . . .
And there is the fundamental double-bind in the face of eternity,
the ultimate knot in the heart of the separate self."
- Ken Wilber

"Our primordial fear is not of being hated.
In fact, it's just the opposite.
Our primordial fear is actually of being loved so completely
that our experience of separation from others
will dissolve entirely
and we'll disappear.
The ego's survival depends on the existence of the "Other."
In fact, that's exactly what makes the "Other" so very significant.
We just don't want to be alone.
Ironically, our other fear of being alone
is only an external manifestation of the inner fear of being "all-ONE."
- Chuck Hillig

"The stronger a person's "I"
the smaller his capacity to become one with anybody.
The "I" is a wall in between.
It proclaims itself. Its proclamation is, "You are you and I am I.
There is a distance between the two."
Then, no matter how much "I" may love you,
no matter how "I" may hold you close, still we are two.
No matter how closely we meet, still there is a gap -
I am I and you are you.
That is why even the most intimate experiences
fail to bring people close.
Bodies sit close to each other, but the persons remain far away.
As long as there is the "I" inside,
the sense of the "other" cannot be dissolved."
- Osho

So the fear of intimacy is not solely a fear of being close to another
person, but is based on larger existential issues. Intimacy brings us
into a confrontation with these core existential issues - the death of
ego.

The Role of "Ego"

What is "ego", anyway?

For the purposes of this discussion, we will assume the following:

1) Basically every "normal" person has it - every person has "ego."

2) "Ego" for now can be defined as "self-obsession," or being obsessed
with oneself (however that person defines "oneself").

3) This means that at some level, however conscious or unconscious,
the "normal" person-with-ego secretly thinks that he or she is, almost
literally, the center of the universe. After all, to be honest, when
thousands die in a faraway place, "I" don't ultimately care too much;
but when "I" get a splinter in my finger, I care a great deal.

With these puzzle pieces in place, we can now examine how this plays
out with "intimacy."

When two people get involved with each other to experience intimacy,
given the above premises, inherent conflict in built-in from the
start: after all, if two people, each of whom is self-obsessed, and so
secretly (or not so secretly) thinks that he or she is the center of
the universe . . . sooner or later, at least one of them must discover
that they can't both be right.

Then the battle begins. Which reveal how most folks apparently
understand "intimacy" - an understanding which, though normally
unspoken, says something like this: "I want you to be as obsessed with
me as I am with myself."

Then the battle plays out, usually with unfortunate consequences, in
one of three different scenarios: 1) the battle rages back and forth,
each person wanting to be "the center," with no clear winner or loser,
until they both give up and end the relationship; 2) one person "wins"
the battle (although they both actually seem to lose), which means the
"winner" becoming the center for both people and the "loser" becoming
codependent, transferring their self-obsession into obsession with the
"winner".

If neither of these options sounds too attractive . . . I agree.
Neither option is attractive.

But perhaps the third option - the only one that seems desirable -
will do the trick, and solve this most difficult problem: 3) each
person involved approaches the relationship with the goal of becoming
free of their own self-obsession, or with the goal of becoming more
free of their own ego. The the relationship, among other things,
become much less about "who" is right, and become much more about what
is right.

How is this done?

What To Do?

For the person who is avoiding intimacy - and wants to stop avoiding
it - what they can "do" is a certain type of inner work.

The strategies for avoiding intimacy manifest in different styles
depending on one's emotional condition. The process of learning to
experience intimacy, then, is essentially a practice of overcoming
one's conditioning . . .

- or in another way, overcoming the fear of the death of one's ego.

This is essentially the purpose of real philosophy and of certain
spiritual practices.

For the person who is longing for intimacy - especially from a
specific person - but isn't experiencing it . . .

- the practice is similar in ways but also slightly different. The
problem is more one of overcoming loneliness., and believing that
intimacy from another person - especially one specific person - is
"IT". The other person can experience this as smothering, suffocating
neediness that threatens to suck the life right out of them, and
naturally, they back away, which causes more lack of intimacy, which
causes more neediness, which causes more . . .

Overcoming this also involves similar work, of understanding one's
ego, overcoming one's conditioning (most specifically, one's
neediness), and practicing real philosophy and spiritual practices.

...which involves not just a web site -
(ahem) - but a whole way of life.

Of course, this is a realy broad and general overview,
and we've barely made some scratches
on a huge, huge topic.

And we definitely plan
to dig deeper,
clarify more,
and get a little closer . . .

Men want to get response from you, your loudness. Practice being noisy, moaning and screaming when masturbation. Your responses are breathing, moaning, moving, twitching (a little movements). If all that are missing, men get embarrassed and nervous thinking his woman is thinking “His technique is not good.”

The Yin-Yang Butterfly (page 86) the Elemental Maid says that “women prevail over men.” These comments indicate that Taoist belief that women are sexually stronger than men.”

What can you do then?
-come again and again…again
-always want more

So here's a little run down for y'all.. I was in a (not so good) relationship with my ex. There was magic, dont get me wrong. We have a new born daughter together, and there has been nothing but drama. She hasn't let me see the little one in about a month, then out of nowhere she calls and tells me I can meet up with her and see our daughter... AGAIN I see her and I feel that magic... She has done alot to hurt me recently, but I never hated her... I have hated the things she's done, but not her... I know right now I need to focus on improving my own life for myself and our daughter, but I still have feelings for her... I know right now is not the right time, there are too many other issues to cover... Has anyone else been in this position? What happened? I want to know your story...

What is your experience with turning your back on love? You had a relationship that had love but you decided to leave the relationship for whatever reason. Do you regret it now? Why did you leave a loving relationship to begin with? What happens to us when we feel love with someone but also feel fear and we go away from love? What are the consequences?

be more defensive then spiritually ambitious?
Could you, or maybe someone you know;
be an Energy Vampire?

Could you, or maybe someone you know;
thirst for a more meaningful existence?

Could you, or maybe someone you know;
hunger for greater:
Compassion, Insight, Peace,
Devotion, Bliss and Love?

Then now, quick, hurry:
find an effective teacher of Emotional Alchemy,
receive his or her blessings and guidance,
put his instructions into practice
and accomplish the path in THIS life!

Why? Why? Why?
Because the alternative
is UN-thinkable!

Because the alternative
is UN-bearable.

Because the alternative
denies your destiny.

Lord Buddha was born
to accomplish full enlightenment in one life
and take away the sufferings of the world.
That is also why we were all born.
It is exactly why You were born!
Now is the time for action;

what do you want?

Hey there.
I wanted to just pose a question to you all, that someone asked me this week. What do you want from a romantic relationship that you dont get in any other relationship you have in your life already?
I want freedom...to be me...with no specific expectations or roles to be played. I dont have to play daughter, friend, sister, colleague. I can be silly, naive, naughty, angry, grumpy, sleepy, bigheaded, stubborn, quiet, thoughful, emotional, sexy, horny, tired, determined, curious...and know that this person will let it all slide. They may get angry, irritated. They may sigh at my escapades, but at the end of the day, getting into bed, this person will be there no matter what.
what about all of you???

Ferociously Happy Heart !

Lama Jigme Gyatso: Rime Manipa Tantrika

Ferociously Happy Heart
Monday, the 27th of November, 2006

Embrace the Ferociously Happy Heart.
Open wide the chest,
open wide it’s cage!
Free the Ferociously Happy Heart.

Stand with legs wide,
stand with a Warrior’s strength,
stand with a Mountain’s solidity.

There is NO puzzle of why…
just the wonder of what,
just the magick of Now!

Ultimately, the cloying slave driver of analysis
can NOT be grasped!

Take to the skies and fly
with the Ferociously Happy Heart!

Do NOT compress
the Ferociously Happy Heart.

Do NOT seek to contrive
the Ferociously Happy Heart.

It is the reality
lurking behind the dream.
It is the reality
dancing being the dream.

It is our true nature!

Come, let us increase our capacity for Joy!
Come, let us increase our capacity for Strength!
Come, let us increase our capacity for Peace!

Strength can scurry about the extremities,
or return to it’s home,
return to our heart.

Come, let us live from the Heart.
Come, let us live from our Center.
Come, let us live from the Now.

Our heart’s happy, solid, peaceful joy;
what is it?
It is the ultimate nature
of sorrow!

Yes, there are those
who throw spears;
spears that can fly
deep into our hearts.

Do NOT turn and run.
There is nothing to fear.
Stand firm your ground.
Open wide your heart.

Enlarge your world
with compassion’s Prayer…
“May all beings now benefit!;
Om Mani Padme Hum!”

Breath deep and explore,
“What are some of the ways
there could be NO separate or permanent
sadness to grasp?”

Relax deep into sorrow and ponder,
“How could this sadness
be just a fleeting dream?”

Do NOT fight the experience,
for that would just be Fear.
Courageously let go
into the fullness of THIS moment’s experience.

“Om Man Padme Hum,
Re-lax-ing.”

There is NO need
to violently “Pierce” the “veil of illusion,”
when all that is required
is to simply, let go.

It is folly
to chase after contemplative experience
like a silly child,
running to find the end of a rainbow!

Rather,
courageously,
stand your ground,
embrace the truth of THIS present moment.

No, NOT the idealized, ultra blissful “present moment”
of escapist fantasy;
but THIS authentic present moment,
be it gorgeous or grotesque.

Feel what you feel
and relax!

Yes, there are those
who rejoice to harm us.

But seen through the eyes
of enlightened courage
they can only
make us stronger.

This is NOT false strength
that comes from resisting;
this is true strength
that comes from surrender.

From Surrender
to a naked awareness of THIS present moment
and all it’s conventional Vulgarity…

from Surrender
to a naked awareness of THIS present moment
and all it’s ultimate Beauty!

An awareness
that is naked,
striped bare
and free from resistance…

free from avoidance,
free from retribution,
free from retreat,
free from deflection.

Breath deep
and embrace the ugliness of the nightmare
and you will relax
into the nature of the dream!

Breath deep
and embrace the ugliness of Hell
and you will relax
into the nature of Heaven.

Do NOT drop your head.
Do NOT cave your chest.
Do NOT seek
to protect your heart in vain.

Stand firm your ground.
Open wide your heart.
Let the foolish exhaust themselves
in their spear throwing.

Let their spears find their targets,
let the cutting edges do their damage.

There is nothing to fear,
there is nothing to hide from,
there is nothing to protect;
breath deep and relax!

Breath deep and relax
into the profound truth of deep insight;
breath deep and relax
into it’s vastly compassionate nature.

Compassion that is vast,
like two arms, infinitely stretched out
to hug the universe,
with a heart of strength.

The Ferocious Joy
of an Un-bound Heart.
The Ferocious Joy
of an Un-protected Heart.

The Ferocious Joy
of a vulnerable Heart.
The Ferocious Joy
of a naked Heart.

Oh how I want you
to have this!
Oh how I want you to soar with the joy
of a Ferociously Happy Heart!

Try this and see what happens

I copied this and brought it over from a post i made in the art of loving tribe . . .

Back when i was in college i was given this book 'The Greatest Salesman In The World' by Og Mandino. It's a little book, the story where someone finds these ten scrolls for mastering salesmanship, if i remember correctly. To attain this you are supposed to read each scroll three times a day for a month, starting with the first scroll for the first month and etc. Overall it is a religious text, and now is something that i would be very skeptical about - i'm much more cynical than when i first came across this thing. But it was right for my openness at the time.

It was a very new time in my life, experimentation with psychedelics and forming new ideas of what was important and possible. I don't remember how it all happened but i know that reading this one particular scroll had a real effect on me. It was the only one i actually was dedicated to reading daily. The others were more about actual sales and stuff. Basically they were all just full of affirmations. But sometimes affirmations are very powerful tools.

Anyway i thought i'd reproduce the 'Love scroll', as i call it, in case anyone here wants to give it a try. I tell you that somewhere along that month i had connected with a universal awareness of love in myself and everything which lasted over a long period of time. The most powerful part of the scroll for me was where it says, 'And how shall i greet each whom i meet? In only one way - in silence, and to myself, I will address him and say, "I love you!" . . .' I did this everywhere i went and it had a great impact on me.

I changed a little bit of the male gender-specific-ness of it that i thought would be bothersome to some women . . .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Scroll Marked II

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"For this is the greatest secret of success in all ventures. Muscle can split a shield and even destroy life but only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of men and until I master this art I will remain no more than a peddler in the market place. I will make love my greatest weapon and none on whom I call can defend against its force."

"My reasoning they may counter; my speech they may distrust; my apparel they may disapprove; my face they may reject; and even my bargains may cause them suspicion; yet my love will melt all hearts liken to the sun whose rays soften the coldest day."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? "

"I will look on all things with love, and I will be born again."

"I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit."

"I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars."

"I will welcome happiness for it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul."

"I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge. "

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!

"And, how will I speak? "

"I will laud my enemies and they will become friends."

"I will encourage my friends and they will become brothers."

"Always I will dig for reasons to applaud; never will I scratch for excuses to gossip."

"When I am tempted to criticize, I will bite my tongue."

"When I am moved to praise, I will shout from the roofs!"

"Is it not so that birds, the wind, the sea and all nature speaks with the music of praise for their creator?"

"Cannot I speak with the same music to his children?"

"Henceforth, will I remember this secret and it will change my life."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"And, how will I act?"

"I will love all manners of people for each person has qualities to be admired even though they are hidden!"

"With love, I will tear down the wall of suspicion and hate, which they have built around their hearts, and in its place, I will build bridges so that my love may enter their souls!"

"I will love the ambitious for they can inspire me!"

"I will love the failures for they can teach me!"

"I will love the kings for they are but human!"

"I will love the meek for they are divine!"

"I will love the rich for they are yet lonely!"

"I will love the poor for they are so many!"

"I will love the young for the faith they hold!"

"I will love the old for the wisdom they share!"

"I will love the beautiful for their eyes of sadness."

"I will love the ugly for their souls of peace."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"But, how will I react to the actions of others?"

"With love!"

"For just as love is my weapon to open the hearts of men, love is also my shield to repulse the arrows of hate and the spears of anger; adversity and discouragement will beat against my new shield and become as the softest of rains. My shield will protect me in the market place and sustain me when I am alone. It will uplift me in moments of despair yet it will calm me in time of exultation. It will become stronger and more protective with use until one day I will cast it aside and walk unencumbered among all manners of men and, when I do, my name will be raised high on the pyramid of life."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"And, how will I confront each whom I meet?"

In only one way - in silence, and to myself, I will address him and say, "I love you!" Though spoken in silence these words will shine in my eyes, unwrinkled my brow, bring a smile to my lips, and echo in my voice; and his heart will be opened. And, who is there who will say nay to my goods when his heart feels my love?"

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"And, most of all, I will love myself!"

"For when I do, I will zealously inspect all things which enter my body, my mind, my soul, and my heart."

"Never will I overindulge the requests of my flesh; rather, I will cherish my body with cleanliness and moderation."

"Never will I allow my mind to be attracted to evil and despair; rather, I will uplift it with the knowledge and wisdom of the ages."

"Never will I allow my soul to become complacent and satisfied; rather, I will feed it with meditation and prayer."

"Never will I allow my heart to become small and bitter; rather, I will share it and it will grow and warm the earth."

"I will greet this day with love in my heart!"

"Henceforth, I will love all humanmankind! From this moment, all hate is let from my veins for I have not time to hate, only time to love."

"From this moment, I take the first step required to become a man or a woman among humanity. With love, I will increase my sales a hundredfold and become a great salesman!"

"If I have not other qualities, I can succeed with love alone. Without it, I will fail though I possess all the knowledge and skills of the world."

"I will greet this day with love, and I will succeed!"

Mr. R's Contemplative Questions

Mr. S, recently wrote:

Mr. R is one of the first members at E…
and he is online most every day if only for a short period.

Mr. R. moved towards the end of October
and has only been online twice since then
and not since November 2nd.

For those of you who don't know, Mr. R. is 84
and he and his wife are not in good health.
Recently they moved in with their daughter
in an attached apartment or section of the house.

I can't imagine Mr. R not getting online unless:

1. He is ill.
2. A death has occurred within the family.
3. Someone is limiting his ability to get online.

None of these scenarios is appealing and all could use some prayers.

Dear Mr.S,

I have just practiced on Mr. R's behalf.

When reciting mantras on the OUT-breath
I often find it helpful
to mentally and silently ask Contemplative questions
during the IN-breath.

After all, ya gotta breath-in some time…
otherwise, you’ll turn a funny color, tip over, and wiggle!

Having established the necessity of breathing in,
we might as well use those IN-breath’s
in the most spiritually constructive manner
that we can.

Perhaps you will enjoy these Contemplative Questions:

#1 "What are some of the ways
it could be in Mr. R's best interest
to now and evermore have internet access
whenever he wants, in the most wonderful way?"

#2 "What are some of the reasons
that Mr. R could now and evermore
receive internet access
whenever he wants, in the most wonderful way?"

#3 "If Mr. R now and evermore
received internet access
whenever he desired, in the most wonderful way;
what could that Feel like?"

I have found that these questions
can strengthen our experience
of Compassion, Confidence and Joy.

Have a beautiful day,
and thank you for caring for Mr. R,
as much as you do.
I suspect he is quite fortunate to have a friend such as you.

Favorite Love Song

What song touches your heart the most...gives you that warm "I want to hold you in my arms forever" feeling?

One that does it for me is the theme to the movie, "A Princess Bride" called "Storybook Love".

Another is "Lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks.

"The problem with love.....?

I read a qoute a while ago that went somethig like this: "The problem with love is that it always seems too much or not enough." Yeah, that one hit home for me.The problem with my brain is that my memory is not enough to remember the name of the woman who said it! So if you know, let me know ,hopefully it's not too much.
